Neutral Fall Tablescape
Learn how to create a neutral fall tablescape.Ā See the elements I used on my copper, green and white fall table.
I love how versatile fall decorating can be.Ā There are so many beautiful ways to decorate for autumn.Ā For my fall tablescape I went with a neutral fall theme and IĀ love it!
Speaking of all the different style of fall decorating, I am excited to, once again, be joining in on the Fall Ideas Tour hosted by Angie from Postcards From the Ridge.Ā Angie has such amazing style and she always hosts the best tours!Ā This week long event has so much fall inspiration so be sure to check back every day!
If you are visiting from Amy’s gorgeous blue and white fall mantel post, welcome, I am so glad you are here!Ā Today’s theme is fall tablescapes and since it’s been a while since I posted about one (the last time was my spring tablescape a couple years ago!) I am pretty excited!Ā Sometimes decorating can feel like a struggle, things just don’t go as planned.Ā I think it’s more about your mindset at the time, really.Ā I must have been in the zone because this tablescape came together very easily.Ā Ā
Did you notice our new (to us) table and church pew?Ā Both have actually been in the garage for a while.Ā James found the church pew on fb marketplace.Ā We didn’t realize until we got home that the dining area wall was the only wall in the house it would fit on!Ā Ā The table I bought from a friend to use as my desk in my home office.Ā For now, I love it in the dining area.Ā Ā

When should you start decorating for fall?
As you probably know by now, I am all about you being you!Ā If you can’t resist the itch to start fall decorating and want to start mid August, then that’s when you should start.Ā Can’t stand to decorate until it’s actually autumn?Ā Then I think you should wait until September 21st.Ā A lot of people use Labor Day as their day to start decorating.Ā Since, it’s still 85 degrees here in coastal NC, I am not all that into fall decorating yet.Ā That’s where neutral fall decorating comes in.Ā Just a few little accents, like a couple white and burlap pumpkins and I have a little bit of fall but it’s not over the top.
How can you use natural elements in fall decor?
I love using items from my yard in my decor.Ā For my neutral fall tablescape I brought in ornamental grass and dried hydrangeas.Ā Other natural elements to decorate with-
- sticks (around a vase is really cute!)
- pampas grass
- leaves
- branches (beauty berry branches have pretty purple berries and bloom in late summer/early fall)
- any fall flower
- berries
- acorns
- pinecones
- pumpkins (of course!)
Colors to use for a neutral fall tablescape
I looked to my dried hydrangeas for color inspiration.Ā I love the coppery rust color some of them turned and the touches of green.Ā Hard to believe they were bright blue not long ago!
Once I had decided on copper, green and white to match the hydrangeas, the rest was easy since I had most of the items already.Ā These pretty green and white plates have been in our back room for years. I intended to break them to use for mosaic art but loved them too much.Ā They only get used a couple times a year but they’re so pretty I definitely should use them more.
Then I added white salad plates and larger mushroom colored dinner plates, both of which are our regular dinner ware.Ā The copper serving bowl and rose gold flatware bring in a bit of sparkle and the wooden table, candle holders and salt and pepper shakers help tone it down while coordinating beautifully.
Some white/cream cloth napkinsĀ as placemats and white pumpkins help to brighten it up.Ā Ā
Tell me, do you prefer neutral fall decorating?Ā If not, what colors do you use?
